🛟 Pick your Shelter round
That round’s points will be halved. You won’t see the questions until you play them, so pick the kind of question you find hardest. You can’t change it later.
Welcome to Traversal
▲ Up asks for the highest. ▼ Down asks for the lowest. ◀ Back asks for the earliest year. ▶ Forward asks for the most recent year.
Each question has one true answer, like a year or a temperature. You have 30 seconds to type your best guess and lock it in. If time runs out, whatever you’ve typed counts, and a blank answer scores 50. You get one guess per round.
You score points for how far off you are, like golf. A perfect guess scores 0, and a round can’t cost more than 50. There are only two rules:
Before round 1, choose one round to shelter. Its points are halved, so pick the topic you know least about.
Your four guesses build a postcard you can share. A new survey arrives every day at midnight Melbourne time (midnight where you are). Your trail journal (🗺️) maps every day you play and holds your trail patches.
Examples: the answer is 1900 and you guess 1910, so you’re 10 years off: 10 points. The answer is 500 km and you guess 450 km, so you’re 10% off: 10 points. On your Shelter round, either one drops to 5.

Embroidered patches for the trail. Earn them by playing; some take a perfect round, others a long streak.
About
Traversal is a free daily trivia game. Each survey has four questions, one for each direction: up, down, back and forward.
Where the answers come from. Every answer was checked against at least three reputable sources, such as Guinness World Records, Britannica, NASA and official sporting bodies, and we use the figure most of them agree on. Records change, so each question says what counts.
Privacy. There are no accounts and no cookies. Your progress, stats and sound setting are saved only in this browser. To score a round, your guess is sent to our server, which sends back the answer. Read the privacy policy and terms of use.
Spotted a wrong answer? Email us with the survey number and round, and we’ll check it.
