Terms of use
Last updated 20 October 2026
These terms apply when you play Traversal at https://playtraversal.io, run by the Traversal team (“we”, “us”). By playing, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the game.
The game
Traversal is a free daily trivia game for entertainment. Each day has a new survey of four questions, which changes at midnight Melbourne time.
Answers aren’t guaranteed
We check every answer against several reputable sources, but we can’t promise every answer, fact or score is correct or up to date. Records change and sources sometimes disagree. Scores, streaks and patches are just for fun and have no value. If an answer turns out to be wrong, we may correct the question, but we can’t change scores already saved on your device.
No guarantee the game is available
We try to keep Traversal running smoothly, but we don’t guarantee it will always be available, error-free or uninterrupted. It may be unavailable for maintenance, because of problems with our providers, or for other reasons. Your progress is stored in your own browser, so it can be lost if your browser data is cleared. We aren’t responsible for lost progress.
Play fair
You agree not to:
- use bots, scripts or other automated tools to play, submit guesses or collect questions or answers;
- try to get answers before playing, for example by probing our servers or reading data you aren’t meant to see;
- overload, attack, disrupt or bypass the security or rate limits of the game or its servers;
- copy, scrape or republish the questions in bulk, or pass the game off as your own.
We may block or limit access for anyone who breaks these rules.
We may change the game
We may change, add or remove questions, rules, scoring, features or these terms at any time, and we may pause or end the game. If we change these terms, we’ll update the date at the top. If you keep playing after that, you accept the new terms.
Paid features
Traversal is free. We may offer an optional paid plan in future, which will come with its own terms that you’ll see before paying.
Who owns what
The game, its design, artwork, code, question wording and name belong to us. The fonts are used under the SIL Open Font License. You’re welcome to share your own results and postcards, including on social media.
Your rights under Australian law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can’t be excluded. Apart from that, and to the extent the law allows, we provide the game “as is” and aren’t liable for any loss arising from using it or being unable to use it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
